A formidable silver flared Berber cuff, called Swar, forms a part of a woman's dowry at marriage. This Berber bracelet was worn in Libya, as well as in the Siwa Oasis in Egypt and other North African countries. Judging by the hallmarks on both knobs, as well as on the outer edge, this was made in Tripoli, Libya. It is made of 90% pure silver.

The bracelet is flared at its ends and thinner at the front with two knobs on either side. There are various hand-etched decorations depicting what looks like the sun and moon. It is in fine vintage condition. You can see an old postcard of a young Libyan woman wearing a similar bracelet.

• Inner circumference is 23 cm or just under 9 inches including a 3 cm or 1 1/4" gap
• The inner diameter is 7.5 cm or 2 7/8 inches.
• Width is 5.8 cm or 2 1/4 inches at the front and 9 cm or 3 5/8 inches at the back
